Position: Director for London and the South
East
Steve was appointed Working Links Regional
Director for London and the South East in September 2009. He
oversees the regional operations of a number of different contracts
that include welfare to work, skills and specialist contracts
employing over 260 people and operating out of 11 offices and
several outreach locations across London and the South East. He
also has responsibility for developing the growth of the region
through identifying and winning new business opportunities.
Steve previously had thirty years of retail
management experience that spanned senior operational, marketing
and commercial roles. He joined Working Links having successfully
run businesses with major blue chip retailers such as Dixons Stores
Group International, B&Q, Sainsbury’s and ASDA, at local,
regional and national levels. During this period he also obtained
his MBA after five years of part-time study and lots of
sacrificed spare time!
Steve has significant experience of
initiating, leading and implementing major change programmes that
have spanned structural, technological and cultural boundaries. He
has extensive experience of setting up businesses from scratch as
well as expanding and maximising returns from existing
businesses.
Steve has been married for 24 years and
has one grown up daughter. He is a Londoner having lived in
West London for most of his life and understands the unique
challenges that living and working within London entails. His other
passion aside from his family and his region, is Arsenal FC. He is
a fanatical ‘gooner’ and a football fan in general, managing to
occasionally switch off and watch his beloved Arsenal play their
unique brand of stylish football. And hopes one day soon to witness
the lifting of a major trophy that he feels is well overdue for all
gooners.
