Efficiency is crucial in a world of
diminishing natural resources. At Working Links we recognise that
if we are to take seriously our corporate responsibility, energy
and waste must be kept to a minimum. We are committed to reducing
our energy consumption, optimising our resources and minimising our
waste.
In September 2009 we embarked on the IEMA
Acorn Scheme to develop an Environmental Management System (EMS) in
order to become ISO 14001 accredited. ISO is the most widely
recognised international sustainability standard, and currently we
are making progress to complete Acorn Phase Four.
Since beginning our journey towards Acorn
accreditation we have made significant progress:

Based on usage per £1,000 of
turnover
Transport and travel
Car usage has fallen 25% since 2008 as
we encourage public transport
Transport and travel produce a great deal
of our CO2 emissions, and we are committed to finding
new ways to operate with less reliance on transport and more
efficient use of travel.
We are currently making full use of the
Telekit phone-conferencing system, which is available in all our
offices and removes the need for travel in day to day business.
To make our people aware of their impact on
the environment every travel booking displays the CO2
emissions for that journey.
