Sadie's dream comes true

SadieAfter being unemployed for two years, Launceston lady Sadie Butler is realising her dream after opening her own business.

Mum-of-two Sadie, 35, has opened beauty salon Aurora on Market Street in the town following help from employment specialists Working Links.

After raising her children – now aged eight and 10 – and having left her last job in January 2008, Sadie decided self-employment was the right direction.

She said: “I was referred to Working Links by the job centre when I told them I would like to be a self employed beautician.

“Working Links, and in particular my consultant Christine Ball, were fantastic. They encouraged me to follow my dream and offered advice and guidance on becoming self employed – they even gave finance assistance for essential equipment such as a treatment couch.”

Sadie also went back to the classroom to help achieve her dream, attending classes at Cornwall College’s Saltash campus to retrain after a career mostly spent in the care industry.

She added: “I had always given massages in my care roles but wanted to enhance my skills. I qualified as a beauty specialist through the college course and now I’ve opened my salon – it’s a dream come true.”

Aurora opened on Saturday 23 January, offering a range of treatments including tailored facials, mini facials, full body massages, eyelash tinting, manicures, pedicures, waxing and much more. All treatments are available to men and women.
