What is an Apprenticeship?
An Apprenticeship is a work-based learning programme, supported and funded by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA). They will help you to develop your skills and:
improve your career prospects
get practical and relevant experience
earn while you learn.
What you can expect on your Apprenticeship journey
You’ll have a dedicated Assessor who will be your single point of contact during your time with us. Your Assessor will be an industry expert, they’ll get to know you, decide on the best way to work together and understand what support you need from us.
You’ll get a high quality training experience and your learning journey with us will be made up of different aspects, so you and your employer can get the most out of your Apprenticeship and you get the skills you need to succeed in your future career.
We’ll make sure you get the training that you need and put together an individual learning plan.
You will receive ongoing support while you’re on your Apprenticeship, including in-work support.
Your Assessor will be available by phone or email should you need them and we will schedule formal face to face reviews.
We will also make sure you get the right skills, including Maths and English, to provide you with the best opportunities for the future.
Functional Skills form an important part of any Apprenticeship. They are about giving you the core skills you need to be successful in any job – and can be developed over the course of your career.
They include Maths, English and, in some Apprenticeships, Information Communication Technology (ICT). They give you the opportunity to develop, practise and apply skills in meaningful workplace contexts.
With all of the Functional Skills you have to complete an external test. Although you may have past achievements that can be used to exempt you – and you can discuss this with your Assessor.
