Auditors find 'strong' processes at Working Links

Building on an industry-leading Merlin rating, employability and offender rehabilitation provider Working Links has drawn praise from government auditors about its strong systems, controls and processes.

Working Links, which has been given an ‘excellent’ Merlin score for its work with partners, has now achieved the highest assurance rating of ‘strong’ from the Department for Work and Pensions’ Provider Assurance Team (PAT).

This superb result reflects the organisation’s commitment to transparency and providing value for money for the taxpayer.

Auditors said that Working Links’ governance, risk management and control arrangements provide strong assurances that risks are identified and managed efficiently and effectively.

PAT auditors were impressed by the ‘effective management structure’ and that the company’s vision and values were embedded throughout the organisation. They also praised Working Links’ customer journey, which ensures that all customers’ individual needs are assessed and catered for at the beginning of any programme – and followed up with action plans designed to help each person progress.

Assessors also said Working Links ensures that a ‘robust outcome validation process is in place’, making sure all claims are complete, accurate and validated before being handed to the department.

Brian Bell, Working Links’ managing director for employability, said: “This rating is a great reflection of the work we do as a business and the improvements we continually look to make to enhance the delivery of our programmes. We have a duty to deliver the best possible service to our customers while delivering real value for money for the UK taxpayer.”
