8:00 Maxine gets her two children up and ready
before walking them both to school.
10:00 Maxine attends one of consultant Paula
Bell’s outreach information days in Abertridwr YMCA. Together they
discuss Maxine’s employment needs. Maxine wants to start a
completely new career. Paula and Maxine discuss her barriers. The
main issue is the fact that she is unable to drive. Together they
create an action plan in which they agree that Maxine would take
part in the driving simulator programme. This will enable her to
have a taste of driving and help prepare her for her theory
test.
11:00 Paula takes Maxine to our main office in
Caerphilly to meet James Rex, the lone parent adviser, who
discusses Maxine’s housing benefit and other benefits. Together
they look at the recent vacancies brought in by the Employer
Solutions Team to give Maxine an insight of current vacancies.
11:30 Maxine goes into the driving simulator
room in Caerphilly to meet George Morgan and Paul Knight who run
the programme. She agrees a time and date to attend her first
session that fits in around her day.
12:00 Paula takes Maxine back to Abertridwr and
leaves Maxine with a Working Links bag, which includes leaflets
containing all contact telephone numbers.
13:00 Back at home Maxine takes care of her
household chores and takes some time out for a cup of tea and reads
the leaflets
15:00 Maxine collects her children from school
and picks up a copy of the Caerphilly Campaign to look at job
vacancies in the area.
