Employment Zones
Employment Zones are a three stage programme for people
affected by long-term unemployment.
They are in 13 locations across the UK with high levels of
structural unemployment. Working Links is the largest provider of
Employment Zones with eight contracts. Each Employment Zone
aims to help between 1,000 and 3,000 jobseekers each year. We
operation Employment Zone in:
- Brent (London)
- Tower and Newham (London)
- Birmingham (Midlands)
- Glasgow (Scotland)
- Brighton (The South)
- Plymouth (The South)
- North Wales
- South Wales
Participants can be aged between 18 and 60 with a minimum
unemployment period of 18 months. Unless you are likely to be
disadvantaged in finding work, such as those recently released from
prison. Unemployed lone parents may also join Employment Zones
without any conditions relating to their length of
unemployment.
Stage One lasts four weeks and is designed to
allow us to get to know each other, undertake diagnostics and
understand the reasons / barriers preventing you from entering
work. To progress to Stage Two we will agree an Action Plan which
outlines agreed activities to support you and help you go into
work.
