Our Vision
For people to find work, and progress in their career they need
the right skills, yet one in five adults don’t achieve the numeracy
and literacy levels expected in an eleven year old, and many school
leavers fail to find employment or move into further education.
Through our work with young people, we have recognised that
sub-standard basic skills significantly affects peoples’ chances of
securing sustainable employment. This in turn impacts on the
communities that they belong to, with high numbers of the
population engaged in low level jobs with no future.
We believe that joined up delivery of skills and employment
services generates results. We plan to help employers meet the
challenges of the Government’s Skills Pledge by working with them
to assist their low skilled workers attain Level 2 qualifications;
contributing to the target for 90% population to attain this level
of education by 2020. We will do this by continuing to enhance the
portfolio of employability and vocational learning that we
provide.

If we can help the most vulnerable in our society improve
their skills this will help them move into jobs with a future. We
are committed to creating learning opportunities which inspire a
greater degree of aspiration and a greater sense of social
inclusion in our most deprived communities.
