Tutor Karl Owen has given
up a day of work to cook treats for patients and staff at a local
hospice.
Karl, who works as a tutor at employment and
skills experts Working Links in Birmingham, helped out in the
kitchens at Compton Hospice in Wolverhampton.
As part of the tenth anniversary of Working
Links, an organisation that helps tackle social exclusion and
poverty through its work across the UK, all its 2,000-strong staff
are to give up a day of work to volunteer for charity – known as a
Rainbow Day.
Karl said: “I had a truly inspirational day at
the Hospice. The people there are really amazing. I cooked all day
for them, preparing cakes and pastries for the patients and also
cooked all of the lunches for the patients and staff.
“It was a great experience and so thankful Working Links gave
me the opportunity – it has really inspired me to try and do more
for the community.”
