Employment Minister
Chris Grayling paid a visit to Working Links’ Tower Hamlets office
as part of his summer tour of welfare to work providers.
Mr Grayling witnessed first-hand their
personal and tailored approach to help people back into sustainable
long-term employment at their Adler Street office on Tuesday 3
August.
Working Links’ Delivery Manager for London
Charlene Greenaway gave the Employment Minister a tour of the
office. He met jobseekers and their dedicated personal consultants
who work with them on a one-to-one basis. They support people with
everything from CVs and training, to confidence building and
application forms.
He also saw our tutors in action as they
delivered training and met with the after care team who provide
continued support to people whilst in work.
Working Links has forged strong relationships
with the third sector and invited partners the Faith Regen
Foundation and the Damilola Taylor Trust to meet the minister.
Regional Director for London and the South
East Steve Woodward said: “The visit was very productive. Mr
Grayling was keen to understand the challenges our consultants,
tutors, managers and outreach teams face.
“He was particularly impressed with the
passion our people have and the tailored and comprehensive service
we deliver. The minister saw how we help people into sustainable
work where they can progress.
“Mr Grayling also witnessed the support we
offer to our providers and the great relationships we have with
them.”
The skills and employment specialists showed
that a flexible and tailored service really works. They have helped
over 150,000 people back into long-term employment in the last ten
years – 35,000 of those in London.
