Nine more jobseekers have retrained and found work in
the care industry in Caerphilly through a partnership between Hafod
Care and Working Links.
Employment and skills experts Working Links,
based at the Caerphilly Business Park on Van Road, helped to fill a
number of vacancies at Hafod Care’s Ty Penrhos care home in the
town.
The news comes just months after the two
organisations partnered to fill ten vacancies at the care home.
That success, which saw Working Links tutors
developing a new course to teach unemployed people about the
principles of care, was replicated in May to fill another nine
jobs.
Hafod Care’s HR Manager Helen Bennett said:
““We worked with the Working Links team back in January to fill
vacancies in our domestic, laundry and kitchen departments as well
as care workers.
“We are delighted with how the new team
members have settled into their roles, they really seem to be
enjoying it and are finding the work rewarding.
“The routeway course that Working Links put
together for us was really in depth and ensured that when the
candidates started their roles they could hit the ground running.
When we were then ready to recruit more care workers, Working Links
was our first port of call.”
As well as details about the sector, the
two-week course included sessions on health and safety, food
hygiene, first aid and much more.
