York local, Francisco Mariga, is one of 1000 people
who is off benefits and in work thanks to employment and skills
specialists Working Links.
Their personal and flexible service helped the
33-year-old find work as a room attendant at the world renowned
hotelier the Marriott.
Working Links works closely with employers to
source job opportunities and tailors its provision to ensure people
find work that is right for them.
Cisco’s dedicated Personal Consultant was
Richard Lloyd. He said Cisco had the right motivation but his
spirits were low when he first stepped through the doors. He said:
“Cisco was anxious and didn’t know what to do. I sat him down and
we talked through his employment history and what he’d like to
do.
“I think he just needed a confidence boost
because when he left he told me he would find a job – and he
did!”
Cisco took his new found confidence and
applied for the role he would eventually get. He said: “I really
enjoy my job. It can be hard work but we have fun. I’m lucky I’m
part of a brilliant team and we’re like a huge family. I also have
the potential to progress so I’m currently working towards
that.
“Richard was a huge help, he gave me the
confidence to apply for the job and also helped me put a CV
together.”
Cisco has thrown himself into work and is now
firmly established as part of the team. Chris Convery, Human
Resources Team Leader at the Marriott Hotel said: “We are delighted
to have Cisco as part of our Housekeeping team here at the York
Marriott.
“He is a credit to Working Links and hopefully
he will be the first of many to join us. He is a huge asset to the
company and is a great role model for anyone who is out of
employment and is looking to get back into work.”
So far, Working Links has helped over 150,000 back into work.
