Better service for lone parent jobseekers

Lone parent interviewLone parents searching for work through employment and skills specialists Working Links now have access to a new range of services.

The new service comes after Working Links – which has more than 180 offices across the UK – partnered with specialist one parent family charity Gingerbread.

Working Links deliver a host of government contracts aimed at helping people, including hundreds of lone parents every year, from social exclusion to social inclusion – whether through finding sustainable employment or taking training to update skills.

The year-long partnership will see Working Links advisers and their lone parent customers offered Gingerbread’s free, tailored service including access to a helpline and website.

Working Links’ Partnership Director Bob Dewin said: “Lone parents face a variety of different challenges. In order to overcome these hurdles it is important that we don’t just offer them support finding work, but also advice on housing, benefits and flexible working.

“To do this, we work with a strong network of partnership organisations to ensure our lone parent customers get the best possible advice, guidance and support possible. A great deal can be learnt from charities like Gingerbread.”

Gingerbread’s Single Parent Helpline provides expert telephone information and advice to single parents on issues they face including child maintenance, benefits, tax credits, education, employment, housing, arrangements with the non-resident parent, money difficulties and welfare reform changes.
