Brian GrocockThe Lord Mayor of Nottingham, Councillor Brian Grocock, visited return to work specialists Working Links to find out how they have successfully helped more than 1000 people into work.

The employment specialists are delivering a programme that supports people that have been out of work for 12 months or longer into sustainable employment – and they have achieved this thanks to the support of partner and provider organisations and the local employers who have been making the most of the free service to support their recruitment drives.

Whilst taking a tour of their premises at City Gate on Tollhouse Hill, The Lord Mayor of Nottingham took the opportunity to meet with some of the jobseekers currently benefiting from the service. In particular, he met with a group on a lively course geared towards helping them gain jobs in the care sector. Courses like this take place regularly at the premises, upskilling the jobseekers in align with the skills sets that employers are looking for. This gives them a much better chance of securing a job. All of those on the care course have interviews over the next couple of days.

He said: “I have found Shereen and the team at Working Links to be brilliant – they have all been helpful and friendly and I actually enjoy coming in regularly to talk about my progress.”

The Lord Mayor of Nottingham, Councillor Grocock said: “I found it enlightening to hear about the work Working Links are doing in helping people get back into work.
