Cardigan man Robert Stone is back in full-time
work for the first time in five years after help from employment
experts Working Links.
Robert, 42, had to move away from the
construction industry due to injury in 2006 but struggled to find
alternative work and after various part-time stints, he turned to
Working Links for help.
Robert said: “I’ve worked in the building
trade for most of my life but had to give it up after I realised my
body just couldn’t take it any longer. I was having quite a few
problems with my elbows, shoulders and ended up with carpal tunnel
syndrome.
“I tried to get into other careers but it
just wasn’t happening but Working Links really helped. Through
them, I’ve retrained with computer and accountancy qualifications
and gained a lot of confidence.”
Robert has just landed a job as a B&Q
delivery driver and customer service representative and is loving
his new life.
He added: “It’s great to be back in work – and
not just having a regular income again. Being in work brings a lot
of social benefits too. Being part of a team and interacting with
people is fantastic.”
