Working Links answer the call for help

Man on the phoneLogistics firm Menzies Distribution has enlisted the help of employment and skills experts Working Links as part of its recruitment process

As a result of the partnership, Menzies has just taken on seven previously long-term unemployed people in their Paisley Customer Services Centre.

Working Links, which delivers the UK government’s Work Programme to help get people back to work in Scotland, developed a two-day training ‘routeway’ to ensure the firm was supplied with suitable candidates able to hit the ground running.

As well as providing suitably-trained candidates and helping with assessment centres, Working Links’ dedicated employer services team also worked closely with Menzies to help on the firm’s recruitment day and provides continued in-work support for the new recruits.

Elaine Mair, of Working Links’ Employer Services team, said: “It’s great to see the candidates back in work again after long breaks from the job market. We’re working closely with employers across Scotland to deliver tailored solutions to their recruitment needs.”

Neal Roleston Customer Services Training Manager, said: "We are always striving to improve our recruitment process and this new relationship with Working Links has seen beneficial results thus far. We have our own support system built into our comprehensive induction programme and this is now backed up with an extra layer of support from Working Links for a period of up to 2 years. This ensures that new Customer Services Advisors are fully supported in their new career."
