Robert Morton
When Robert Morton got in touch with
Working Links he was having difficulty finding accommodation as
well as a job. Robert had a number of convictions including
Attempted Murder which he served six years of a ten year sentence
for and remains on Licence until 2011. Also due to his length of
unemployment he was unable to gain stable accommodation.
Robert joined the Progress2work Link-up
programme as he was interested in gaining employment as a kitchen
porter or in a manual capacity such as a warehouse worker or
labourer. In order to help Robert gain employment as a kitchen
porter, he attended a food and hygiene course which we run in the
office and he is now certified for the next two years.
Robert found it difficult to complete a job
search in Scotland on his own but had the motivation to seek
additional help and guidance. We referred Robert onto Glasgow North
Regeneration Agency where he worked alongside an employment advisor
who would also help source vacancies and give additional help using
computers. We helped him with his CV preparation and gave him job
interview help so he was fully prepared for any future interviews.
Robert’s Working Links Consultant accompanied him to the Hamish
Allen Centre where he registered himself as homeless. Robert was
immediately placed on the housing list and gained permanent
accommodation within six weeks.
We sourced Robert a job at Blue Arrow as a
Warehouse worker in Erksine and thanks to his CV preparation and
job interview help, Robert was successful in this interview. Robert
is still working with Blue Arrow today and is enjoying his
work.
