New director for Working Links in Wales
Date: 6 June 2008
Tackling unemployment levels will be among the
challenges facing Working Links’ new Director for Wales, Marcella
Maxwell, who joins the organisation from Chwarae Teg.
In her previous role as chief executive, she
worked with employers and organisations across Wales to optimise
the role of women in the workforce. Working Links, meanwhile,
specialises in helping some of the nation’s most disadvantaged
people by assisting long-term unemployed people return to
sustainable employment. Marcella’s appointment marks a new
beginning for its operations in Wales.
As its newly appointed Wales Director,
Marcella will ensure Working Links remains a market leader in its
field and that it plays a key role in tackling social exclusion and
poverty by helping disadvantaged individuals and communities.
She said: “With the growing significance of
the welfare reform programme, particularly in joining up the
employment and skills agendas, my new role offers an exciting
opportunity to be part of an organisation which has earned itself a
significant reputation, not only in Wales, but across the UK, for
both its social impact and service excellence.
“The development of this agenda will present
us with a number of significant opportunities and challenges going
forward and I’m really excited to be leading Wales as part of a
strong and dynamic team.”
