A Jolly good way to learn
Joe Jolly, who is from Auchinleck in Ayrshire, recently
started up his own business as a Driving Instructor and is really
looking forward to his new business moving forward in
2008.
We were able to assist Joe through the Deprived Area Fund (DAF)
and he recently became the 500th person to join the DAF programme
in its first three months of operating. This contract operates
throughout Inverclyde, Ayrshire, Dumfries and Galloway.
Before starting his new career, Joe had been on incapacity
benefit for some years and had found that his health issues, lack
of employment opportunities and lack of funding for self-employment
had hindered him getting back in to work. Having previously worked
for 33 years as a forklift instructor, Joe’s aspirations were to
open a driving school.

Joe gets behind the
wheel
By working with Naheem Yaseen, his Personal Consultant, Joe was
able to access the Individual Contribution Fund to allow his dream
to become a reality. And through some further support he has
obtained his Driving Standards Agency Registration Licence, and had
help with marketing materials and leaflets, getting dual controls,
School of Motoring insurance and car rooftop sign.
By working with Business Gateway, Joe has prepared his own
business plan and has found his new business is on the road to
success!
